ANYPLAYER / HELP
A little help.
Then back to watching.
Start with a file, get comfortable with the controls, or move a video from your computer.
Your first video
- Open AnyPlayer on your iPad.
- Tap “Open file to play” or the + button and choose a video in Files.
- Tap Play. Use the full-screen button when you want more room.
AnyPlayer plays media you provide. It does not include films, courses or a streaming catalog.
Open directly or import a copy?
Open directly: choose a file from Files and play it in place. Keep the source storage available while watching.
Import: copy a video into the app library for organization. Make sure your iPad has room for the copy.
You can also drag videos from Files or Photos into AnyPlayer. For external drives and cloud providers, confirm that the file is fully available before playing.
Send from your computer
- Connect the iPad and computer to the same trusted local network.
- In AnyPlayer, open “Wireless transfer” and enable receiving. Allow local network access when iPadOS asks.
- Type the exact address shown on the iPad into your computer browser. Choose the files to upload.
- Keep AnyPlayer in the foreground until the transfer completes, then open the video from the library.
A LocalSend-compatible app can also discover the receiver on the same network. When a receive request appears on iPad, review it before accepting.
If the device is not found: check local network permission, the Wi-Fi connection, VPN rules and guest-network isolation. The address may change when you reconnect.
Transfers currently use local HTTP. Do not forward the receiver port to the internet; turn receiving off when finished.

A few common questions
The screen stays awake when paused. Why?
Keep screen awake is on by default while AnyPlayer is in the foreground, including the library, paused playback and receiving. Turn it off in Settings or switch apps to follow the system auto-lock behavior.
The video will not play. What can I try?
Confirm the file has finished downloading or transferring and that the storage location is available. Try a known-good local file. If one file still fails, note its format, encoding and steps to reproduce; a supported extension alone does not guarantee every encoding or damaged file will play.
Does AnyPlayer include videos or online subtitles?
No media catalog is included. Bring files you are entitled to use. Automatic speech recognition and online subtitle generation are not advertised as current features.
Can I use it on iPhone or Mac?
The video player is for iPad and requires iPadOS 17.0 or later. Computer transfer tools on this page send files to your iPad; they are not Mac or iPhone video players.
What does it cost?
Availability, prices and purchase terms are determined by the App Store listing for your region. This website does not take payments or promise a price.
